Number 9  Take the initiative

Finding a farm B&B in an Austrian village unknown to Americans has benefits.  We stayed at Großscharn farm high on the mountainside above Bramberg am Wildkogel ($65/night). In addition to helping the family move their cows from pasture to barn and watching 12-year-old Anna milk the cows, we decided to visit the showroom of a large wood processing factory in town. We discovered that the factory makes beautiful prefab chalets.  The showroom mockups were impressive, but we wanted a tour of the factory.  Our motto is it never hurts to ask. We asked the clerk at the desk and got a personal tour of the factory. Logs go in one end of the factory, and fully assembled walls ready for assembly come out the other end.  At the end of the tour, we received a wooden beer stein made by their computer-controlled saw.  RETURN TO START PAGE
