Number 8 Stop and smell the roses
After arriving in Frankfurt, we were on our way to our first destination in a 200-year-old timber frame schoolhouse apartment ($57/night) in Geislingen am Kocher, a tiny, hard to find village outside of Schwabish Hall, Germany. We had a list of villages we wanted to see on the way. Our first stop was Miltenberg, a historic town on the Main River. We were thrilled that the entire town showed up to welcome us. (just kidding) We learned that it was their annual Mayday celebration highlighted by the raising of the Maypole. Even though we would miss several other sights and arrive at our apartment late, we joined the locals and their party.
