Sleeping in Switzerland

According to many surveys, Switzerland is the most expensive country in Europe. Finding accommodations for less than $100/night is difficult. For example, a one-bedroom apartment with kitchen and private bath in Austria can cost under $70/night. The same apartment in Switzerland will cost $150 to $200/night or more depending on location.  It is hard to find a bed and breakfast for two people for less than $100/night.  On our 2017 trip, we used Airbnb.com and found:

  • a bedroom with a private bath and shared kitchen for $52/night in centrally located Wald.

  • a one-bedroom apartment with kitchen and private bath in a 600-year-old log house in Ferden located in the beautiful Lötschental Valley for $64/night.  (See photos)
