Wendy and I are back from two unbelievable weeks in England and one phenomenal week visiting our friends in Norway.  We drove 1500 miles visiting Windsor Castle, the Cotswolds, the Lake District, and the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.  We tend to avoid cities for small out of the way villages, but we did visit Windsor, Oxford, Durham, and Richmond.  Richmond Castle is a "must see."  Except for a room rental in Windsor and an English B & B with full English breakfast, we stayed in apartments with kitchens and private bathrooms.   Grocery shopping and cooking our meals are two of our favorite travel experiences.  We can still taste the English bacon (totally different from American bacon) and sausages we found in the meat market in Leyburn. Our average lodging expense was $79 per night, which was more than the $64 per night on our three week trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2017.
